Introduction

Welcome to the Quake trophy guide!
Quake is a first-person shooter game developed by id Software and published by GT Interactive. The first game in the Quake series, it was originally released for MS-DOS, Microsoft Windows and Linux in 1996, followed by Mac OS and Sega Saturn in 1997 and Nintendo 64 in 1998. In the game, players must find their way through various maze-like, medieval environments while battling monsters using an array of weaponry. The overall atmosphere is dark and gritty, with many stone textures and a rusty, capitalized font. Quake takes inspiration from gothic fiction and the works of H. P. Lovecraft.

The successor to id Software’s Doom series, Quake built upon the technology and gameplay of its predecessor. Unlike the Doom engine before it, the Quake engine offered full real-time 3D rendering and had early support for 3D acceleration through OpenGL. After Doom helped popularize multiplayer deathmatches, Quake added various multiplayer options. Online multiplayer became increasingly common, with the QuakeWorld update and software such as QuakeSpy making the process of finding and playing against others on the Internet easier and more reliable. Quake featured music composed by Trent Reznor and his band Nine Inch Nails.

Roadmap

Step 1: Multiplayer
Silver Discharge [30G]

The best map to unlock is on DM5: The Cistern or DM8: Acrophobia since both have a Thunderbolt gun with a Pentagram of Protection.

Here is a video explaining on how the get Discharge from DM8:

Step 2: Miscellaneous
Bronze Secret Sleuth [15G]

This can be easily gotten from Quake: Episode 1 Map 1. There is a secret in the right encolve in the starting area. There is another in the water area at the bottom of the elevator in the same map.

Silver The Shambler Dance [30G]
Silver A Close Shave [30G]

The easiest map for these two would be Quake:END. You’ll have everything need to kill the 3 Shamblers. “A Close Shave” doesn’t care about thr lightning attack but both need to duck into cover to weaken them enough. E2M2 works just as well for both.

Silver Friendly Fire [30G]

You just need to get another enemy to kill another. Playing Quake:E1M1 on Hard/Nightmare works perfectly as there is a section where a bridge would be that would be good to have the enemies kill each other.

Bronze Bronze Vertical Vengeance [15G]
Bronze Nevermore [15G]
Bronze The Hot And Winding Road [15G]
Bronze Into Sandy’s City [15G]

Each episode has a secret exit to where it leads to a secret level. As a heads up, E2M3 also has another unlockable so check out the following for a fish from legends past. It is preferred to find these through Easy, or if you are feeling lucky, try them when going through the main playthrough but be warned.

E1M4
E2M3
E3M4
E4M5

Silver The Well of Wishes [30G]

This secret lies within E2M3 upon which you could also find the Secret Exit (as shown above). It is best to find this secret on Easy. Starting from E2M1 is up to you as if you run through it, you’ll have more ammunition than just starting on E2M3 with nothing but a shotgun. Here is a visual on how to find the legendary Dope Fish:

Silver Slipgate Pacifist [30G]

You can pull this off with the axe as shooting the shotgun at any point will null the trophy. For an easier walkthrough, here is a video:

Silver The Painless Maze [30G]

The map to acquire this from is Quake:E4M6. There is a couple ways to accomplish this. One is to unlock it when playing through Episode 4 on Nightmare as you’ll have weapons and ammunition from previous maps or playing from Level Select. Here are a video of both ways.

Silver You’re not supposed to be here! [30G]

This can be achieved on Scourge of Armagon within map HIP3M1. It will unlock on any difficulty so it is preferred on Easy. Here is a video on how to find the secret:

Bronze Military Complex [15G]
Bronze The Gremlin’s Domain [15G]
Bronze A Long Yard [15G]

These three can be accomplished on Easy within the Level select. The levels would be SoA:HIP1M2, SoA:HIP2M1, and SoA:HIP3M3 for quick succession.

Bronze The House of Doom [15G]

The secret exit can be found in DotP:E5M6. It is preferred to be done on Easy through Level select. Here is the video to find the secret exit:

Bronze Sandy’s Room [15G]

The secret exit can be found in DotM:MGE1M1 “The Pain Drain” and preferred to be done on Easy via Level Select because then it would be easier to know which one is which. Here is the video on how to find the exit:

Step 3: Singleplayer

Section 1: Quake (Main)

Bronze Sink the Horror Electric [15G]
Bronze Bottom of the Well [15G]
Bronze Beneath the Blue Chambers [15G]
Bronze The Last Unexplored Path [15G]
Bronze Indigestion [15G]
Gold Shub’s Bud [86G]

These are unlocked from playing through the first option (Quake) on any difficulty (Nightmare if you are feeling fisky to get “Shub’s Bud”). Nightmare MIGHT require a second playthrough but here is a video of a Nightmare play:

Section 2: Scourge of Armagon

Bronze Gateway Traveller [15G]
Bronze Dominated Dominion [15G]
Bronze Arma-gone [15G]
Gold Scourge Done Slick [86G]

These are unlocked from playing through the second option (Scourge of Armagon) on any difficulty (Nightmare if you are feeling fisky to get “Scourge Done Slick”). Nightmare MIGHT require a second playthrough but here are some videos for each Episode:

Section 3: Dissolution of Eternity

Bronze Overlord Overdone [15G]
Bronze Dragonslayer [15G]
Gold Rogue Ranger [86G]

These are unlocked from playing through the third option (Dissolution of Eternity) on any difficulty (Nightmare if you are feeling fisky to get “Rogue Ranger”). Nightmare MIGHT require a second playthrough but here are two videos for each Episode:

Section 4: Dimension of the Past

Bronze The Year Zero [15G]
Gold Otherworldly [86G]

These are unlocked from playing through the fourth option (Dimension of the Past) on any difficulty (Nightmare if you are feeling fisky to get “Otherworldly”). Nightmare MIGHT require a second playthrough but here is a video for completing on Nightmare:

Section 5: Dimension of the Machine

Bronze Vengeance Denied [15G]
Gold Machinehead [86G]

These are unlocked from playing through the fifth option (Dimension of the Machine) on any difficulty (Nightmare if you are feeling fisky to get “Machinehead”). Nightmare MIGHT require a second playthrough but here is a video for completing on Nightmare:
