Bibi Blocksberg – Big Broom Race 3 Review

In the latest instalment by Independent Arts, Bibi Blocksberg – Big Broom Race 3, is a racing sim where you race other characters on broomsticks across three areas, and twelve challenging racetracks.

It’s the holidays, Bibi Blocksberg and her friends, who happen to be witches, are bored and decide to have a flying race, however, they know the part of town where they live so well, that they decide to spice things up and race at three different areas around the world.

They decide to visit Transylvania, Orient, and even go back in time to the age of the dinosaurs! They are witches after all.

I had never heard of Bibi Blocksberg one or two before coming across this third instalment, and part of me is glad I hadn’t. I’m sure this game would be most enjoyed with friends while playing in the multiplayer mode, however, playing solo wasn’t enjoyable and became boring by the third area.

At first I thought the low resolution graphics when Bibi is talking with her friends were due to me playing on the PS5; as the game is PS4. I was wrong. The graphics are pretty poor in general on playstation.

The gameplay graphics themselves were clear and the controls were mostly responsive; there were a few times when the controls seemed a little slow at reacting. After about an hour of playing I was already 60% done with the trophies without even trying.

The first 30 minutes of playing were enjoyable though, and the more races you win, the more stuff you unlock; like new characters, broomsticks and racetracks.

The racetracks are a pretty good length and fairly challenging in some places; having to avoid the obstacles, as well as the potions being thrown at me by the opponents, were fun.

The music differed depending on what racetrack I was in and became quite repetitive by the end of the race.

There are rallies to compete in, in all the three areas, plus single races and team race options. So with the three areas and twelve racetracks, you could be fairly entertained for a while, especially in multiplayer mode.

There is also no need to fear falling off the edge on these racetracks, as that won’t happen in this game.

Rating: 5 out of 10.

  • Simple controls
  • Plenty of racetrack and character options
  • Unlock rewards as you play

  • Not fun to play solo
  • Some of the graphics are poor
  • Music can get repetitive and annoying

Overall, this game is good for multiplayer and has a good selection of racetracks, characters and broomsticks for enjoyment. With obstacles and challenges to hype up the difficulty, slightly.
