Introduction
Welcome to the Shield King trophy guide!
From AFIL Games, “Shield King is an action and survival game set in a world enveloped by a strange gray mist. After coming into contact with this mist, people have transformed into violent monstrosities. The mist seems to be closer to the ground, prompting people to seek refuge in high places, although safety is not guaranteed. Little is known about this mysterious phenomenon.“
Roadmap
Step 1: Survive 19 Levels
This survival game will test your abilities and patience, as well as your nerve. Surviving the first 17 levels is easy enough, with an increased difficulty on the 18th level; however, be very aware of a massive difficulty spike for the 19th level. Despite the trophies stating that you need “Beat level 20” for
Shield Master, you actually only have to reach it within the first, and only available world at the beginning of the game.
The game itself provides a twin-stick dashing motion that will enable you to kill your enemies as they arrive, plus the ability to run away if needed. As you progress the levels will get harder, so you will need to learn how and when you use your collected potions.
A lot of the trophies will come naturally as you play, however you are advised to master what is needed for
Apocalyptic Skydiving early on in the game, as this will become invaluable. Being able to lure your enemies to the top/side of the screen and then circling round them before pushing them off of the edge is the best way to get rid of them quickly.
Prior to levels 5 & 15 you will have an opportunity to enter the store, in which you will need to perform some specific actions –
- First Store – Upgrade your shield for
Fortified Defense. You will need 200 in-game currency for this, so be sure to utilise your currency increase power-ups as soon as you get them - Second Store – Use the gem fusion option for
Gem Fusion. You should have naturally obtained enough gems via collection off of dead enemies by this point to craft at least one.
You begin each level with full health, so keep this in mind prior to entering the chopper at the end of a level. There is no point wasting life upgrades as you’ll need them on the latter levels.
You’ll also need to store as many lightening bolt power-ups for level 19. You can replay levels as many times as you need, but you will not be able to replenish those power-ups if you keep dying over and over. If you enter this level without these particular power-ups you may need to start over a whole new game, as there is no level select, and no way to revisit a store once you have moved on.
Tips and Strategies
Prepare yourself for Level 19. For me, the whole game was about being ready for this one once I had played it a couple of times.
