Introduction

Welcome to Thunder Kid: Hunt for the Robot Emperor trophy guide!
Thunder Kid is an action shooter, in the vein of the 3D sections of Contra. Avoid robots deadly attacks in this fast paced bullet hell, with a surprisingly tough set of bosses! But at least it’s quick!

Roadmap

Step 1: Beat The First Three Bosses
The first thing we’ll need to do is worry about killing the first three bosses of the game. While you do this, make sure to explore every level after the first level to find the Energy Medallions required for the Energy trophies. You’ll also want to kill everything you can, as this will make the Collector trophies quicker. At the end of this step, you should have almost all of the trophies. For an easier time, instead of using square to shoot your gun, use or  .

You’ll be earning these trophies:
Silver Hunter I
Gold Hunter II
Gold Hunter III
Gold Energy I
Gold Energy II
Gold Energy III
Gold Collector I
Gold Collector II
Gold Boss Baron
Gold Boss Longlegs
Gold Boss Duke

Step 2: Health Token Grinding
In the odd chance you never got 9 health pickups, now is the time to kill everything you see and pick them up. In my experience, if an enemy dropped a health pick up, it had a good chance of dropping one again. So I’d die and kill it again. If it didn’t drop one, I’d move on. At the end of this stage, you’ll have the platinum.

During this step you’ll earn these trophies:
Gold Collector III
40-platinum Thunder Runner

Trophy Guide

Thunder Runner
Unlock all other trophies.

Unlock all other trophies.

Hunter I Gold
Kill 10 enemies.

For this trophy, you have to just kill 10 enemies.

Hunter II Gold
Kill 50 enemies.

This trophy requires you to kill 50 enemies.

Hunter III Gold
Kill 100 enemies.

In order to get this trophy, you have to kill a total of 100 enemies. I recommend killing every enemy you see to get this as quick as you can.

Energy I Gold
Collect 1 energy medalion.

To get this trophy, you have to collect one energy medallion. These start appearing in the second level, and are big yellow medals, so they’re hard to miss. You just may need to go down one of the paths in the level.

Energy II Gold
Collect 2 energy medalions.

This trophy requires you to pick up 2 energy medallions. Refer to Gold Energy I for more information on the energy medals.

Energy III Gold
Collect 4 energy medalions.

This trophy requires you to pick up 4 energy medallions. Refer to Gold Energy I for more information on the energy medals.

Collector I Gold
Collect 3 health tokens.

For this trophy, you have to pick up 3 health tokens from enemies. They drop from enemies randomly and look like little yellow canisters, like you have in the top left corner. If you find one, you have to make sure you’ve taken at least one point of damage to be able to pick it up. I recommend killing every enemy you see to get this trophy easier, along with its following trophies.

Collector II Gold
Collect 6 health tokens.

To get this trophy, you have to pick up a total of 6 health tokens. Refer to Collector I (Gold) for more information.

Collector III Gold
Collect 9 health tokens.

In order to get this trophy, you have to pick up a total of 9 health tokens. Refer to Collector I (Gold) for more information on health tokens.

Boss Baron Gold
Defeat boss Boxer Baron.

This is the first boss in the game that you encounter. He has two attacks. He will either throw the fist at you that’s on the left side of the screen, making bullets come out of it along the way that you must dodge, or he will slam the ground with both hands, causing a shockwave to come from both of them that you must dodge. When he’s lost about 2/3rds of his health, he will start shooting 3 bullets at you from his body, constantly, so you have to always be on the move. Once he’s dead, you’ll get this trophy.

Boss Longlegs Gold
Defeat boss Lord Longlegs.

Longlegs is the second boss that you’ll encounter in the game. It is a giant mechanical spider. It has two forms of attacks. One is easy to avoid, where it just shoots a lot of bullets in a specific pattern. So if you stand a good distance away from it, in the center it’ll miss you. The problematic one is the bombs it shoots, as these scatter at weird angles directly in front of it, and they have a surprisingly large radius and can damage you more than once. So if if lifts its head up to shoot bombs, run to the sides and avoid it. The damage point of the boss is in its center. If you hit the legs, it won’t take damage.

Boss Duke Gold
Defeat boss Drone Duke.

Duke is the third boss you’ll encounter in the game and is the last trophy required boss to defeat. This fight is easily the worst of the three trophy bosses, as you have to constantly be alert. There are lasers on the floor that are always moving, so you have to jump over them. Duke also launches lasers that fly at you from the ceiling, and they rotate around as they travel past you, so you have to avoid those, along with the lasers on the floor. If you’re lucky, you’ll defeat him before he launches a wall of bullets. When I beat him, I didn’t have this happen, but it killed me many times, so I’m not sure how to avoid it. After he’s dead, you’ll get this trophy.
