Introduction
A dark, emotional and deeply personal journey into the mind of a woman who’s lost and in desperate desire for isolation during a very hot summer. Maybe the shadow monster in her apartment can help her through this hopeless time?
Enter her mind and discover her insecurities and help her realise that there’s still hope and things can change for the better.
Review
This was an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. I was fully invested and wanted to see the story to its end; whatever that end might be.
Very solemn music and a simplistic, black and white drawing design. The story was moving and so relatable with thoughts and desires that are part of being human. Even if those thoughts are, at times, dark and self-loathing.
It’s hard to keep this spoiler free as there is so much in-depth, personal evaluation encased in this story. Which makes it so beautiful, and truthful.
As I previously said, the art is that of a drawing which, to me, is perfect as it just lets you focus solely on the story and this poor woman in her time of struggle and decline.
The story itself is very short, which is probably for the best, as I’m not sure I could have coped with the bleak nature for too much longer. However, I felt a sense of purpose with helping aid her through her journey.
Really simple controls with smooth, easy manoeuvring throughout. Which were mainly just point and click. Speaking of point and click, there was the odd time that I found it a little challenging to click perfectly on the requested prompt, however, it was momentary and didn’t really have anything to do with the game itself.
Rating
Pros:
- Good story
- Simple controls
- Thought provoking
Cons:
- Point and click requests can be tricky, at times
- Very dark – might be a trigger for some
Summary
Beautiful, deep, relatable story. Easy focus and short, but very sweet, and at times, funny experience. Simple controls and with a guide, a very easy platinum.
