Introduction
Created by Uprising Studios, Scarf is an adventure game mixing puzzles and 3D platforms, offering an allegorical journey through beautiful worlds. Released on consoles July 6, 2023.
Review
Scarf is a 3D Adventure game, where protagonist Hyke must use his polymorphic scarf to explore a magical environment, solve mysterious puzzles and overcome difficult challenges. Hyke’s scarf morphs into different objects which will help to progress the adventure.
This game was recommended to me and I’m glad it was – it offers stunning visuals and adorable characters, along with simple platforming and fun puzzles.
There are three worlds to explore which resemble desert, forest and rocky mountains – where the objective is to collect powers which must be returned to the main broken portal in the ‘limbo’ area which you use to go home.
It’s a very short game, if you follow just the main path you can probably finish the game in about 1-1.5 hours. The platinum will probably take between 4-6 hours.
There are quite a few collectibles; toys, drawings and inks – there are a number of each to collect in all three worlds. The worlds are fairly big and open, however the game does restrict access to out of bounds areas so it’s pretty straight forward.
As you progress, there are various abilities that you collect and then can use whenever you wish, through the scarf – this was super fun and felt really smooth.
I enjoyed the puzzles, and even though they were pretty simple and not too much of a challenge, I still thought they were fun.
I highly recommend this game, even if just to experience the story.
